New years has come and gone and it’s time for another monthly update!
It feels strange that its already January, and while North America is way colder than average, I’ve basically been living in what I consider ‘October Weather’ for the last couple months. Not that I can’t say I miss the snow, but it just doesn’t feel the same.
As I wrote about separately, I did get a chance to go to Arashiyama in Kyoto, started going to a cooking class, and was able to enjoy some Christmas and New Years festivities. I also went and saw the new Star Wars (good! Liked the last one better, though), checked out a video game pub, picked up a Mini Super Famicom, and met some interesting people along the way.
I was procrastinating planning where to go in December, and it was really stressing me out as the days went by. I was having difficulty nailing down my Christmas and New Years plans until late in the month, and that also didn’t help planning a separate trip. Ultimately, I ended up getting rid of what I decided was an arbitrary goal, going to a new prefecture every month, and instead I’m going to pick a few places I’d like to go and just plan them for whenever. Trying to force it to happen wasn’t sitting well with me.
That being said, I hope to go somewhere this month, possibly Kyushu, where it is a bit warmer weather.
This month, I’m also excited to see what my test results. My tutoring has been going well and I think my reading and speaking skills have been improving a lot lately (though still nowhere close to fluent). My goal continues to be trying my best to put in the proper hours at work, and not be a colossal slacker 😛
Hopefully more exciting stuff to post in the near future!
Thanks for your blog; it’s so interesting
