… and I still need to buy some winter tires!
It’s been another busy month. Finally starting to feel settled down. I’ve finally built my last piece of IKEA furniture and now all I’ve got left to do is put some pictures up on the wall, and I think I will be done setting up this place.
This month marks the passing of my beloved Nexus 5x, which decided to die in the middle of the month. This left me phoneless for a little bit, which was a strange feeling. Initially I was carrying my dead phone around out of habit (and maybe some hope that it would start up), but eventually I gave up and wasn’t carrying anything, just patting my pocket randomly and semi-panicking over my missing phone… where did I leave it?! Thankfully, a coworker lent me their old iPhone for a couple weeks until my Pixel 3 finally got here (thanks Canada Post strike for making this take longer!)
Halloween came and went, I was some kind of grim reaper. How scary! To be in character, I also tried to kill some people in the Halloween pot luck with my chili, which I made way too spicy. I still won best main dish, though, boo-yeah! Got a free knife set! I’ve been refining that recipe for a while and I’m glad people enjoy it, even though I did torture some people who were not such fans of spiciness.
I also went to Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo in October with Naoko and her friend Kaitlyn. We had a good time watching a cooking show, making some pretzels, looking around the market, and checking out a few other Oktoberfest areas in the city, as well.
I’m looking forward to the holiday season, where I will get to see my brother and his family for the first time since I left for Japan over a year ago. I hope to have another update some time around the holidays. Signing off until then!
