Now that I’m here, its time to do some planning. Getting set up is going to be its own fun adventure.

Here are some things I need to accomplish, and soon!

1. Buy a 判子 (hanko) or a personal seal, used for signing documents and things
2. Register my address with the city, and get it updated on my Residence card
3. Get a cell phone number
4. Get a bank account
5. Get an apartment
6. Update all of the addresses above with the new apartment/phone number
7. Get utilities and internet at the apartment
8. Register for health insurance
9. Buy furniture / appliances for apartment

Sounds easy, right?  The tricky part is its hard to do 3 without having done 4 and 5, hard to do 4 without having done 3 and 5, and hard to do 5 without doing 3 and 4.  I’m sure I’ll work it out. I’ll keep you all up to date with the adventures.
